SentisPraxisPensares: Popular Religious Festivals in the Construction of Social Subjectivities in the Pilgrimage of Our Lady of Cisne (Ecuador) and in the Parrandas of Remedios (Cuba)

Abstract

We present a historical, comparative, and analytical synthesis of the Parrandas de Remedios in Cuba and
the Peregrinación de Nuestra Señora del Cisne (NSC) in Ecuador. We analyze the process of constructing
social subjectivities within the context of Latin American modernity in the cases studied. We also explore the processes of social subjectivation in these festivities. We develop an experimental and multi-sited ethnography, focusing on sacred images, rituals, and festive elements. As a result, we analyze the dialectical relationships between Feelings, Praxis, and Thoughts (SentisPraxisPensares): the process of constructing social subjectivity; and the virtual construction of a grammar- interculturality.
