Abstract

During the first Peronism, the poem Martín Fierro, written by José Hernández in 1872, was reread in various ways. Although it was not a novel practice, the affiliation between the songs of the gaucho and the political affairs acquired new dimensions since 1945. In this article I propose an analysis of two publications that used the figure of Fierro to express propaganda messages in favor of Perón and the revolution initiated in June 1943: La Sombra de Martín Fierro (el poema de la revolución) by Jorge Del Campo and Martín Pueblo by Pedro Maglione Jaimes. I am interested in focusing this study from the contributions of the history of emotions to investigate how the sensibilities of potential readers were challenged and what were the points of emotional confluence between Martín Fierro, Perón and their followers
