In the Mouth of the World: Brazilian cinema affects racialized

Abstract

This article analyzes the movie Na Boca do Mundo (1978), by Antônio Pitanga, from the point of view of the affective relations between blacks, whites and mestizos in Brazil. The movie explores the tensions produced by a love triangle between a black man, a mestizo woman and a white woman, from different social classes. Staging and discussing themes like miscegenation and the affective-sexual relationshipsin Brazil, marked by conflicts where themes as whitening and social uplift play an important role
