Civilización, educación e instrucción: cuerpos en disputa. El proyecto moderno instruccionista en Antioquia (1903-1930)

Abstract

The enactment of Act 39 of 1903 and the widespread recognition that this law was a laboralista proposal for Antioquia (Department located in the northwest of Colombia) due to the fact that it promote the rapid training of
students for industry, agriculture and commerce, caused controversial opinions; on one hand, the exacerbation of
the mood in some sectors and, secondly, discussions about the relevance of such proposals. That was how the first
decade of the twentieth century, under the process of appropriation of this law in this department, the discussion
on what was understood differentially Education and Instruction occupied much of the publications of the Magazine
"Instrucción Pública Antioqueña” official organ main disseminator of reforming ideas. This text attempts to analytically understand the historical context of these discussions, the same that ultimately lead to the so called “modern
subject”, in many ways.
