Abstract

Brasilcristiane.andrade@fiocruz.ResumoIntrodução: armed violence (AV) in vulnerable territories is a reality of urban centers that places communities and workers in situations of fear, fear, anxiety, worries, etc. Objective: discuss the emotions and health of workers in the area of ​​health that they experience or continue to experience in their work locations. Methodology: qualitative research with field work in a large city in the Southeast region of Brazil. Foram carried out 15 individual interviews with health workers from two communities who have experiences of VA. Results: experiences of state violence and armed groups, and the occurrence of shootings, the workers relate feelings of fear, fear, despair and helplessness in the face of VA, among others. Concerning health, it relates: the need to use controlled medication, anxiety, insanity, “nervous”, panic, anger, tremors, increased arterial pressure, sensation of death, trauma, among others. It was verified, however, that the families who live in the favelas in the quaistrabalham are of major concern. The sufferings are related to the interruptions of health care of people in the community and years of prayer, such as the recognition of the population and colleagues for the care provided. Conclusion: VA in vulnerable territories is a type of violence that affects life, subjectivity, health and the emotions of workers in health.
